San Diego Vacation

For our family vacation we went to San Diego. We always head east it feels like so we decided to go west and what better place than San Diego. It was a great vacation that was not long enough. I had the whole tripped planned out so that we would be busy but also have some rest days in between. Well I should not have planned because it all got changed the minute we got to the hotel. Our trip started on May 7 with a great flight, kids did good, airline gave us a break on luggage fees, just all around good. We made it to San Diego, got our car and off to the resort we went. Got checked in and went up to the room and when I touched Ryleigh she was hot. So I took her temp and of course she had one. It would not be a Watts vacation without someone getting sick. We let her nap for the rest of the day and took Cooper to the pool hoping that by morning she would be over it. Morning came and she still had fever so off we went to find a place to get her checked out. She ended up having double ear infections and with some meds we were good to start our vacation. Since that took most of the morning we decided to hit the San Diego Padre afternoon game. Trey and Cooper have a goal to try and get to all the stadiums so we got this one marked off the list. It was a fun game and a beautiful stadium. The next day we went to go check our the USS Midway. The tour is a audio tour that is suppose to take 4 hours. Well our 2 got through it is 2 hours. We basically ran through the ship. When we got to the top of the ship where the airplanes and helicopters were Cooper got excited to see those and to get into a few.
Later that evening we went out to La Jolla to see the seals and try to eat. We found the seals but no luck on food. We ended up going to dinner at Old Town Mexican café, which was excellent. Trey was worried about getting Mexican food since it was not going to be tex mex. The following 3 pics are of La Jolla beach
Next adventure was to the San Diego Zoo. I have only been to the zoos here and let me just say that they do not even come close to comparing to this zoo. We did not even get through it all. A couple of funny stories: When we got to the zoo we rented a stroller and of course they have things to have the kids beg the parents for right there. So of course my 2 start asking if they can have this and that. We gave in and they both got a small stuff animal. Cooper got a koala bear and Ryleigh picked a pink flamingo. When you point at a flamingo and ask Ryleigh what it is it sounds like she is saying bingo. So when we asked her what she is going to name her flamingo she said Bingo. we started laughing and then she said Bingo was his name o. So that is his name Bing was his name o. The next story is about the orange birds in the second picture below. We went in to this big bird cage and were walking through it and when we got to the end these birds were blocking the door. When we got closer to them they kept trying to get my toes. I was hoping around like a crazy person trying to keep from getting pecked at by these birds. They ended up getting my toes at one point. All the time trey was laughing and taking pictures.
The next day we went to LEGOLAND. I will have to post pics later they are on treys phone. This was a great place to take little kids. They could ride everything, well Cooper could Ryleigh could ride almost everything. We were on vacation for Mothers Day so I got to pick what I wanted to do on this day. So I decided that we would go to a winery called Wilson's Creek. We had to drive inland to get there and boy did it get hot when we got away from the coast. It did not help that the locals were saying that it was the hottest day of the year so far. Of course it would be that we would bring some texas heat with us. This winery was very nice it was kid friendly. There was a little petting zoo and plenty of area for the kids to run and play and a live band. The kids were so great, they let Trey and I enjoy our wine sampling and just have a nice peaceful afternoon. But then it came to an end and they were ready to go. We loaded up and went back to the resort and took the kids down to the pools and they played while we lounged. It was a great day
The next day we went to Sea World. I felt like this was kind of a waste because it was the same as San Antonio which we have done. again no pics will post later So this whole time we had been on the beach we had not had time to make it to go play on the beach. The day that we were to leave to come home I was determined to get to the beach for a little bit and play in the sand, the water is to cold. The morning of we got up and went to the beach and played in the sand for a couple of hours. Well let me rephrase that Cooper and I played in the sand. Ryleigh was way to cold and so she stayed on the blanket and wrapped herself up in a towel and that is where she stayed. Cooper and I built a sand castle as you can see below. This was a great vacation and like I said at the beginning we wished we had more time here.
I wanted to list the places we ate at just in case we go back. There are some great places to eat at. For breakfast we had The eggery and the snooze, both great. we also ate at Hodad's burger joint one of dives diners and drive ins and a pizza place called pizzeria luigi cheap and good.
