March 24, 2008

Well it is now Cooper's 2 week old birthday. He is doing wonderful. He is such a great baby. We got him weighed today and he is 7 lbs 9.9 oz. yeah Cooper is gaining weight. This will be our first week home without help so pray for us that things go smoothly. Trey is still off work for one more week so that will be so helpful. I know I have said this but he is such a great dad. He loves his little boy so much. Here are some new pics for yall.

What has been happening

Well we survived our first night at home all by ourselves. But let me just say thank goodness for grandma's. My mom came up Saturday to stay the weekend with us and has been so much help. I got to get some really good sleep and so did Trey thanks to her. Cooper loves his grandmuma very much. And this week he will get to bond with his Nana and Papa.
Well as Trey said we got to take him home but he is still fighting his jaundice. We have to take him in everyday so far for lab work to check his levels. Yesterday we did not get the news we were hoping for his levels jumped back up to 17. So we are going back today and hopefully they will be back down. He is being more active and awake so that is a good sign. He is just a wonderful baby and we just love him so much. I know that yall have been waiting for more pics so here you go sorry it has taken me so long things are a little crazy when you bring a baby home :)

Day 5 - Going Home

This morning we received wonderful news. Cooper's Jaundice levels dropped enough to take him home today. Were very excited and ready to get home and start our new family life. We have a full day tomorrow with checkup's to make sure his Jaundice levels don't change but I'm taking the next two weeks off to help during the day and night. I'll try to post new pictures later today.

Thanks for everyone's prayers and support. Look out a new Watts boy has entered the world :)!

Thursday Day 4 of Cooper's Life

The week has been so crazy. Just wanted to give everyone an update. This morning Cooper had some blood work done and his levels for Jaundice jumped this morning so we had to put him under some lights (phototherapy) to treat him for this. So he has not been able to come and see us today because we want those levels to drop low enough for him to be able to come home with us tomorrow. It has been a hard day for me not being able to see him or hold him is really starting to get to me. The love you have for your little one is just so amazing. So if yall could just pray for him that this will all be fixed so that he can come home with us we would appreciate it.
Besides all that everything else has been going great. Trey is such a great dad. We have a little system going that he changes the diapers and then I feed and then we all go to sleep and the start the cycle over again 3 hours later. Welcome to our new world :) Trey has gotten better and better at changing those diapers. He has just jumped right in there. It started off kind of rough. One diaper was on Cooper just a little to loose and so when I picked him up to feed him in the middle of the night Cooper had poop all up his back down his legs and all over his feet. I should have woke Trey up to clean it but I just decided to let him sleep. Ever since that diaper he has done a great job. Cooper is such a daddy's boy. Everyone says that he looks like him. Ok this is long enough. I will try and get some more photos posted tonight or for sure tomrrow, so keep reading and watching for those pics of the cutest boy ( well that is my opinion).

Day 2 What a Night

Well after a long night of no sleep we have made it through day 2. Cooper is doing so great. I can not believe he is here, he is just perfect. Thanks to all of yall that have sent us your congrats and love.
Yesterday was such a great day for us. Trey did a good job telling our story. When we got to the hospital everything went so fast. Like Trey said I was prepped for Surgery while he was MIA. Here I am anxious as can be and my husband is missing. I was just trying to figure out who was going back there with me. Thank goodness he showed up.
When Cooper was born it was the best feeling I have ever experienced. Hearing him cry for the first time and seeing his little face was such a miracle.

Cooper's Birthday - Day 1

Well day 1 was interesting. We didn't sleep much last night and we had to get up early to make it to Wanissa's 7:30am check in time. After about 10 minutes of driving we realized that the car was running on an empty tank of gas. After stopping for gas we realized we had about 15 minutes to make it in time but we were at least 25 minutes out with traffic. I used my lead foot to get us to the hospital in record time.
Now to the exciting part.... Wanissa was sent to a triage room where they began to prepare her for surgery. I began to get nervous and started feeling a little nauseous. I told Wanissa I needed to take a few items back to the car since we only had a temporary room. Well I made it to the car but on the way back I had to make a pit stop and get rid of my breakfast :). It's still about 8:10am and I figured I had plenty of time before the delivery. I returned the triage room just short of 8:30am and learned that everyone was waiting on me because they moved up the delivery time. (I almost missed the delivery!). Anyways we made our way back to the OR and I made it through it without passing out... oh ya Wanissa and the baby did well too :)

Here's a few pictures of Cooper Vaughn who entered this world at 8:51am and weighed in at 7 pounds, 5 ounces, and was 19 inches long.

One more Day

Tomorrow is the big day. I cannot believe it is already here. I want to thank everyone for keeping us in your prayers and for checking on us. Thanks to everyone that came to see me and kept me from going insane while on house arrest. Please keep us in your prayers tomorrow that everything goes well, that Trey does not pass out, and that Cooper is healthy.
Love yall
